Good to see these data supporting the well-deserved belief that all the bases were covered from the beginning. They are celebrating down there in an old Oregon timber town finding a new life. Another important "measure" is what you experience at Bandon. The 500+ employees are thriving and it shows in the many ways they care for their guests at the resort. A great source of pride among all Oregonians!!!

As always, a well written article. As a resident of Wash state, I’m interested in the golf course project near Grays Harbor.

As an Oregonian, we have mixed feelings about Bandon. On one hand, we want to keep this gem to ourselves so shhhhh!, please make this post disappear. But at the same time, it's an utterly awesome property that deserves to be shared with the golf world. With more infrastructure in place, I'd like to see a major land there.

A couple of thoughts:

Caddies are required at Bandon, so I'm wondering how many of their stated "employees" are caddies who probably work seasonally and as independent contractors.

The ownership is smart to subsidize flights, much as many ski resorts do during the winter months. But with the amount of growth Bandon is experiencing, perhaps these flight will become self-sustaining at some point soon. I'm surprised that Alaska Airlines (the largest operator out of Portland International Airport) hasn't added more service from PDX to North Bend. That's a quick 45-minute flight. Secondary airports such as North Bend (SW Oregon Regional) were first to get the axe during Covid and this time of pilot and airline employee shortages.

Great article, and what a breakdown. Never really thought about how MUCH Bandon Dunes contributes to the local economy but it's impossible to not realize the impact overall.

One quibble - the Preserve is 13 holes, not 12. (The 13th is the downhill one folks use a putter on often.)
