I just ran numbers for my junior golfer and came up with $1800 for driving (2 day tournament) and $3400 for flying (3 day tournament). The issue is more systemic than straight costs, such as courses opening up to tournaments only during the weekday, which was the case in my state. If the sport wants to grow and be more inclusive, examining junior golf is the first step. Thanks for posting -- more articles needed!

Intriguing breakdown Jared...high barrier to entry for sure. You would think the PGA tour would have more incentives to help kids with potential pay for their tournaments.

One might reasonably inquire what the USGA intends to do with $800 million in cash and marketable securities. https://www.usga.org/content/dam/usga/pdf/2021/2020%20United%20States%20Golf%20Association%20FS.pdf
