Enjoyed the read. I would be cautious about the club that takes a $20 fee for cancellations. In time, they will lose clients.

Golf for most remains a guilty pleasure. It's the first thing that is discarded if life gets in the way. And that's before the weather clags in and you decide to can your round.

So while I would encourage the software systems that alerts clients about vacancies in the booking-sheet, I do not see how fining your clients for cancellations will do anything else over time, other than make them not your clients.

Behave today how you intend to behave when the good times are over and demand goes down.

I certainly have no way to verify the impact of ‘walk ons’ for a public GC, but it has to be a decent number. I actually avoid local munis that require a credit card cause I don’t like putting that out there, if I can help it. Anyways, my point is walk ons (not prebooked) should help mitigate some cancelled tee times. As always, thx for the great context. Tim C
